Madira Girls’ Soccer Team (The Assassins): Team News, Fixtures and Results

Madira girls aka ‘The Assassins’ wrote history by becoming the first ever girls soccer team to qualify for KSSSA national football competitions from Vihiga county.

The red hot Western Region queens are in a good run of form; ahead of the national school games in Kakamega. They have recollected themselves after their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Butere Girls (popularly known as the Red Commandos) in the 2023 Western Region Soccer Girls’ final match.

On Saturday, Madira clinched top honours in the Vihiga County Safaricom Chapa Dimba finals. They downed Maroon Queens 1-0 to lift the title; which came with a cash reward of Ksh75,000. Chapa Dimba na safaricom Vihiga county champions. Another 75k in the basket. They picked more accolades with Jane Hato(Didi-Captain) getting the Most valuable player award. The Top scorer’s silver-ware went to Valerie Nekesa.

On Sunday, the girls lifted the FKF overall Division one title after thumping Kibera Queens 4-1. Their Star striker Valerie Nekesa emerged the top scorer with a whooping 37 goals in the FKF women’s Division 1 zone B league.

Coach Nick Muleri is hopeful of picking a silver-ware at the National games.

They have been drawn in pool B alongside Nyanza’s Lwak Girls, Mbitini Girls from Eastern and Rift Valley’s giants Wiyeta.

Their first assignment is against Mbitini on Tuesday morning. They will then take on Wiyeta the following day before facing Lwak on Thursday.

Pool A has Western Region Champs, Butere Girls, Njabini (Central), Coast’s Kombani and Nairobi’s Dagoreti Mixed.

Three best overall teams proceed to the East Africa Secondary Schools’ Games (FEASSSA) in Huye City, Rwanda.
