Matutu Secondary School retains Nyamira County Boys’ Soccer title- Full list of qualifiers

Matutu Secondary School has clinched the 2024 Nyamira County Secondary Schools’ Sports Association, NCSSSA, Soccer boys’ title with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Gekano Boys.

The game that was played at Kiendege fields initially ended in a goalless draw at full and extra time, leading to a penalty shootout.

Earlier in the tournament, Matutu had been eliminated in the semifinals by Nyaibasa, but they successfully appealed a decision regarding ineligible players, ultimately winning their case yesterday. As a result, Matutu has secured their place in the 2024 Nyanza regional championship.

Matutu defeated Gekendo Secondary School last year to lift their maiden trophy.

Reports indicate that Gekano Boys may petition Matutu’s win over ineligible players.

Elsewhere, Ikonge PAG girls were crowned volleyball champions days after losing to Riooga secondary school in a tough final. A jury sitting in Nyamira found Riooga culpable of fielding ineligible player and thus they were scrapped-off the win.
