Meru School fraternity broke into song and dance after posting a stellar performance in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), making them the best in the upper Eastern region with a mean score of 9.4.
Out of the 489 candidates who sat the exam, 52 scored straight As, 83 A-, 110 B+, 100 B, 77 B-, and 35 C+, totalling 405 (94 per cent) candidates who will be transitioning to university.
School Principal Mr. Henry Ruteere, attributed the stellar performance of the 2024 class to discipline and hard work, as well as the dedication and commitment of the teachers, who took every minute of their time to support and mentor the candidates.
He said this is one of the best results posted by the institution and has placed it in a good position on the Kenyan map.
“I am very pleased by this result and would also wish to thank our parents and the non-teaching staff who have been giving us huge support throughout. Above all, we thank God for blessing us up to this far,” said Mr. Ruteere.
He said there were an additional 30 A’s this year in the huge class compared to last year’s class, where they presented 445 students and scored only 22 straight As.
“Despite the challenge of the huge class, we developed a mechanism of dealing with them, especially looking at the potential of the 50 students and talking to them to encourage them to keep working hard.”
