2026 School Games, KSSSA, Calendar
The Ministry of Education has released the official 2026 National Co-Curricular Activities Calendar, detailing the schedule for schools’ games, sports, music, drama, and science competitions across the country.
In a circular dated November 28, it was directed to all Regional, County, and Sub-County Directors of Education, Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok detailed the schedules for the coming academic year.
The 2026 co-curricular activities calendar covers primary, junior, secondary, and special needs schools (SNE), ensuring nationwide participation in co-curricular programs.
Ministry of Education Announces 2026 Activities Calendar for Schools Countrywide
Term 1 – School National Games and Sports
The Term 1 Schools’ National Games and Sports will be hosted in Nyanza Region, Kisumu County, with a referees’ clinic scheduled for 5th–6th April 2026.
Teams are expected to arrive on 5th April, and the opening ceremony will take place on 7th April at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium.
Competitions for secondary and SNE secondary/primary schools will run from 7th–11th April, while primary and junior schools will compete from 7th–10th April.
The disciplines in each of the 1st Term schools’ games and sports categories will be as follows:
The National Drama and Film Festival will take place from April 6 to 18, 2026, in the Central Region, Nyeri County.
The main action days are scheduled for April 7 to 13, followed by the gala concert on April 14 to 15 and the state concert on April 17.
The Kenya Science and Engineering Fair will take place in the North-Eastern Region for Junior and Secondary Schools in Garissa County, at Garissa High School, from March 29 to April 5.
Kenya Teachers Training Colleges Co-curricular Calendar
The Kenya Teachers Training Colleges Sports will be held from March 27 to April 5, 2026, in Nyanza Region, Homa Bay County, at Asumbi TTC. A referees’ clinic is scheduled for March 28-29, with the action days running from March 31 to April 3.
The closing ceremony will take place on 4th April, and participating teams will depart on 5th April.
Term 2 Co-curricular Calendar Dates
The Term 2 Schools’ National Games and Sports will be hosted in the Central Region, Kiambu County, at Thika Municipality.
A referees’ clinic is scheduled for July 25 to 26, with teams arriving on July 26.
The opening ceremony will take place on July 28 at Mpesa Academy, and the competitions will run from July 28 to August 1. The closing ceremony and team departures are scheduled for August 1-2.
The Kenya Music Festivals will take place from August 1st to 14th, 2026, in the Western Region, Bungoma County, at Kibabii University.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for August 2nd, with action days from August 2nd to 10th.
The gala concert will be held on August 11th and 12th, followed by the state concert on August 13th, and departure on August 14th.
Kenya Teachers Training Colleges Sports
The second Kenya Teachers Training Colleges Sports event will be held from May 22nd to 30th, 2026, in Nyanza Region, Homa Bay County, at Homa Bay Stadium and Asumbi TTC.
A referees’ clinic is scheduled for May 23rd, with action days from May 24th to 28th, the closing ceremony on May 29th, and departure on May 30th.
2026 FEASSA Games’ Dates
The Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Camp and Championship will feature a training camp in Kajiado from August 2nd to 12th, followed by the games in Tanzania from August 12th to 23rd.
The East Africa Music, Dance, and Drama Festival will be hosted in Soroti, Uganda, from August 15th to 25th, 2026, with action days from August 18th to 23rd and departure on August 24th.
