📍 Establishment (1964)
The school was founded in February 1964 by Kenya’s Ministry of Education.
It started as a girls’ day secondary school at the former Woodley Primary School in Nairobi.
The aim was to provide education to girls from low-income and disadvantaged families, especially since such opportunities were limited before independence.
It began with:

🏫 Early Growth and Development (1965–1970s)
In 1965, a hostel was set up to accommodate students who lived far away.
By 1967, the school expanded to a two-stream system and the first class sat for O-level exams.
In 1968, new facilities (administration block and dormitory) were built with support from USAID.
In 1970, the school introduced A-level classes, increasing enrolment.
🏗️ Expansion into a Major Boarding School
In 1974, a major fundraising (harambee) was officiated by Daniel arap Moi (then Vice President).
This led to construction of more dormitories and expansion of facilities.
