Nyamira County is the home of some of the best performing schools in the Country. In this article, we have provided an indepth analysis of the schools including their physical locations, students’ population, performance analysis and their facilities.

NYAMBARIA HIGH SCHOOL.

Nyambaria high school is one of the best schools in Nyamira County. The boys’ only national school is located in Manga sub county off the Kisii-Chemosit highway. To access the school, take the branch at Kemera market.

Nyambaria boys has a capacity to accommodate over 4,000 students and has enough facilities for learning and Co-curricular activities.

In terms of performance, the school has been posting excellent results sending all the candidates to university. It has always featured among the top performing schools nationally.

In Co-curricular activities, the school is known to produce best items in Music Festivals, Drama and Kenya Science & Engineering Fairs.

SIRONGA GIRLS.

This is the best girls’ school in Nyamira County. The National School is located in the outskirts of Nyamira Town; along the Kisii-Kericho highway.

The girls’ only national school can accommodate over 3,000 students.

The ‘Maroon palace’, as it is commonly known, performs well both academically and in Co-curricular activities.

In academics, Sironga Girls has always appeared among the top performing schools nationally with impressive mean scores.

As its counterparts, Nyambaria Boys, Sironga is a champion in Drama, Music Festivals and Science & Engineering Fairs.

This is one of the easiest schools to locate as it is found along the highway. The school has several storey buildings that accommodate the girls and also used as classrooms. It has a multipurpose hall.

On the flip side, Sironga Girls lacks enough facilities for Sports activities; something that has been caused by the limited land space with buildings occupying more than three quarters of the available space.

KEBIRIGO BOYS

This is another academic giant in Nyamira County. The school is located in Nyamira South Sub-County; off the Kisii-Kericho highway. The adjacent market is Kebirigo Town.

The school is known for always sending all the students to university, year in year out.

On facilities, the school has just enough boarding and learning facilities with its major undoing being lack of enough facilities for games.

Over the years, the school has Excelled well in Drama, Music and Science Engineering Fairs.

The school can accommodate over 2,500 boys.

NYANSIONGO BOYS.

St. Kizito Nyansiongo Boys is another good choice of a school to study in. Located in a serene environment in the settlement scheme, the school has enough academic and sports activities. Infact, the school has two soccer pitches, 2 basketball courts, 3 handball pitches and an athletics track.

The school has always featured among the top performing schools in the country.

The Boys’ only school is found in Borabu Sub-County; along the Kisii-Sotik Highway. To access Nyansiongo Boys, take a turn at Kijauri market.

NYAKONGO BOYS.

This is an emerging academic giant in Nyamira County. The school has recently stamped it’s authority in academics; competing favourably with other top schools in the country.

Nyakongo Boys has a capacity of over 3,000 students and is found in Masaba North Sub-County.

On facilities, the school is fairly well and has just enough boarding and learning facilities. For games, the school has a soccer pitch, volleyball pitch and one basketball court.

To reach the school, take a turn at Metamaywa junction that is along the Kisii-Sotik Highway and near Keroka market.

MWONGORI MIXED SCHOOL.

This is another good school in Nyamira County and which is located in Borabu Sub-County. It is located at a hill; off the Kisii-Sotik Highway.

Mwongori accommodates over 3,500 boys and girls and has just enough teaching-learning and boarding facilities.

Unfortunately, the school is not endowed with enough sports activities.

MENYENYA HIGH SCHOOL.

Menyenya high school is a mixed school found in Borabu Sub-County; next to Nyansiongo factory and off the Kisii-Sotik Highway. The school is a few metres from Kijauri market.

Menyenya high school has just enough boarding and learning facilities and can accommodate over 3,000 learners.

NYAKEMINCHA SECONDARY SCHOOL.

Known for its stellar performance at the National exams, St. Peter’s Nyakemincha Secondary School is located in Nyamira South Sub-County; off the Kisii-Kericho highway. It is a few metres from Kebirigo Town.

With a student enrollment of over 4,000 Nyakemincha has just enough boarding and learning facilities; with inadequate cocurricular activities’ facilities.

This is a Day and Boarding school and which is mixed.

NYAMIRA BOYS.

Found at the heart of Nyamira Town, Nyamira Boys in one of the best schools in the County. The school is located in Nyamira South Sub-County and within a walking distance from Nyamira Town.

The school has sufficient learning and boarding facilities. The one soccer pitch is not enough though for the learners’ exposure to Co-curricular activities.

On the positive side, Nyamira Boys has been performing excellently well at the Drama, Music and Science Engineering Fairs for many years. The school can accommodate over 3,000 boys.

The school is a fully boarding one.

TOMBE GIRLS.

This is another good girls’ only school in Nyamira County. It has fairly enough boarding and learning facilities with constricted sports facilities.

Tombe Girls is located in Manga Sub-County off the Kisii-Kericho highway. To arrive at the school, take a turn at Kemera market.

MATONGO BOYS

This is one of the oldest and best performing schools in the County. The school is found in Nyamira North Sub-County and along the Ikonge-Chabera road. The nearest town is Chabera.

Matongo is a boys’ only boarding school that has sufficient boarding, learning and sporting facilities. The school can offer services to over 3,000 boys.

NYANSABAKWA BOYS.

This is another top performing school found in Nyamira South Sub-County; along the Nyamira-Miruka road. The nearest town is Miruka.
