Parents, teachers, and learners left stranded after strong winds blew off six classroom roofs and several offices
Parents, teachers, and learners of Katama Primary School in Mumoni, Mwingi North, have been left stranded after strong winds blew off six classroom roofs and several offices, including that of the head teacher as heavy rains pounded the area.
Among the classes destroyed are a Grade 9 classroom that was under construction.
Michael Ndunga, the headteacher, on Friday said, “The heavy rains started just after children had left for home. The rains have left a trail of destruction.”
Teresia Natole, a parent, said, “We have arranged for a meeting between parents and the administration to determine the way forward because our children no longer have facilities to learn.”
The school fraternity has called on well-wishers, both at county and national government levels, to step in and help restore structures at the school.
