Police open investigation on death of Multimedia University student

Police have initiated an investigation into the suspicious death of a first-year student at Multimedia University in Langata sub-county.

The body of Sylvia Kemunto was discovered inside a water tank on campus last evening. Nairobi County police chief George Seda reported that officers were notified after the young woman, who had gone missing since Sunday, was found in the tank. The police chief believes she may have been strangled before being placed in the tank.

Seda mentioned that they are currently searching for the victim’s boyfriend, who is on the run, as witnesses indicated he was last seen leaving her room in Block E of the university.

The body has been sent to the City morgue for further investigation and an autopsy.

In a separate incident in the nearby Kibra constituency, police are looking into a fire that left many residents of Lainisaba homeless. The blaze destroyed over 200 structures, resulting in significant losses for several victims.

Seda stated that they are investigating the fire, which he suspects may have been caused by faulty electrical connections. The constituency has experienced a high number of fire incidents recently.
