School principal Mr. Wycliffe Manoa sent the students home after they destroyed property at the school and refused to go to class.

The deceased Form Four students, whose identities have not been released, were among a group of students who were standing on top of the septic tank when the accident occurred at around 6 pm last evening.

Rarieda Deputy County Commissioner, Mr. Samuel Njuguna, who confirmed the incident, said a rescue team was immediately called from Siaya town to assist in the retrieval of the student.

The two bodies were removed with the help of community members who rushed to the scene and were taken to Bondo hospital mortuary, while the injured students are receiving treatment at local hospitals.

The rescue efforts were, however, disrupted after students started pelting stones and fighting police officers who had been called to the school to contain them after they turned rowdy.
