School Head Teachers to hold their National Annual Conference in Mombasa

This year’s Kenya Primary School Headteachers Association (KEPSHA) conference will kick off as from Monday November 4, 2024 in Mombasa.

The one-week event which will bring together over 10,000 head teachers is expected to end on Friday November 8, 2024.

The matter of agitation to be confirmed as principals of Junior School is expected to dominate discussions, which will also bring up compensation for the period that they have acted as managers of the Junior School (JS), popularly known as JSS.

Another big issue will be the delayed disbursement of capitation funds to schools, even as the government works overtime to deliver the Grade 9 classes before the next academic calendar.

KEPSHA held its 20th Annual Conference in Mombasa last year. The five-day event, held from November 6th to 10th 2023 at the Sheikh Ali-Zayed Children’s Home, marked two decades of dedication to educational excellence. The esteemed occasion, inaugurated by former Education CS Hon. Ezekiel Machogu on November 8th, saw the participation of key figures, including Basic Education PS Dr. Belio Kipsang, TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia, KEMI CEO Dr. Maurice Odondo, and KICD CEO Prof. Charles Ong’ondo.

The conference agenda delved into crucial topics shaping the educational landscape:

1). Sustainability in Education
2). Assessment
3). Accountability
4). Fostering Inclusivity in Education and Enhancing Teacher Professional Development
5). Headteacher Advancement
6). Introduction of Programs, Initiatives, and Strategies for Effective Comprehensive Schools Starting 2024
