Shocking News as TSC newly employed JSS Teacher Commits Suicide

A newly employed Juniour Secondary School (JSS) Teacher has committed suicide. The 38-year-old man who rcently received his JSS employment from the Teachers Service Commission, TSC,  to teach in Nakuru County has died by suicide in Kabisimba area, Chepalungu in Bomet County.

The lifeless body of the teacher was found hanging inside the rooftop of a toilet within his homestead.

According to a police report, the wife of the deceased teacher, Nelly Bett, alleged that her husband left the house in the wee hours of the morning to visit the latrine but never returned to the house.

The silence forced her to inquire, only to find her husband’s body hanging inside the toilet.

Chepalungu sub-county police boss Phanton Analo confirmed the incident saying the deceased’s body had no physical injuries apart from bruised lips occasioned by his struggle during the incident.

The reasons for the incident are yet to be established since no suicide note was recovered after a search.

The body has since been moved to Longisa Hospital mortuary.

There have been increased cases of teachers’ deaths by suicide of recent. Most of the reported cases are related to family issues, financial constraints and pressure at working stations.

Last month, two teachers were burried in Nyamira County after committing suicide. An analysis of the suicide cases shows that male teachers are mostly affected. As this is not enough, the same gender features more on the lists of teachers interdicted and dismissed by the Teachers Service Commission.
