Shocker as several TSC Teachers are slapped with KRA Tax Arrears

Several teachers are discovering that they owe the Kenya Revenue Authority, KRA, arrears amounting to thousands of shillings.

According to teachers, their P9 statements in their Tpay accounts has revealed unsettling arrears for the Financial Year 2024/2025.

It remains unclear how these arrears accumulated, especially since the same teachers had filed their taxes within the required timeframe.

Its therefore advisable for teachers to urgently access their Tpay and review their P9 statements to determine their arrears status in a timely manner, as this will help them take necessary steps before the deadline.

What to do Incase you see KRA arrears on your P9 Form

While filing KRA returns in view of the June 30th deadline, Incase you discover that you owe KRA arrears in regard to the P9 statements in your Tpay account for the Financial Year 2024/2025 yet you had filed your taxes previously within the required time frames, do not panic.

It could be the failure on the part of the employer not having remitted to KRA despite having deducted from you.

However, make an effort to know the exact amount of arrears, if any, and bring the information to the attention of KRA itself either in Huduma centres or the main KRA offices.

Not all teachers are affected by the same.

However, it can easily impact for you negatively in future especially during calculations for pension.

Arrears can easily be detected from your P9 form.

TSC CIRCULAR ON FILING OF INDIVIDUAL INCOME TAX RETURNS FOR THE YEAR 2024.

In compliance with the provisions of the Income Tax Act, all TSC employees are required to file their individual income tax returns for the year 2024 through the KRA online iTax platform (https://itax.kra.go.ke), by 30th June 2025.

To facilitate this, employees can download their Tax deduction cards (P9 Forms) on the TSC T-pay portal.
