Shocker to parents as Knec rules out transfer of candidates

Attempts by parents to transfer their kids to new schools have been dealt a major blow. This is after the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, ruled out any changes to examination centres for the about 2 million 2020 KCSE and KCPE candidates.

Some parents had opted to transfer their kids to low cost schools, after the long closure as a result of the covid19 outbreak. The movement is due to the tough economic times caused by the pandemic.

But, the council says the registration process for the 2020 tests has been complete and will not welcome any bids for alterations. This, KNEC claims, will disrupt preparations for the exams.

According to the revised KCPE calendar, class 8 learners will sit for their exams between March 22 and 24, 2020, with KCSE tests will kick off on March 25, 2020 and will last for a period of three weeks and three days.

Those willing to move their kids can however do it but, such candidates will have to sit the tests at their registration centres.

This comes at the back drop of a revised schedule for assessment of subjects with a project component.

“The assessment records for all the projects should be delivered in the prescribed format to the sub- county Director by 15th February 2021.” Reads a memo by KNEC boss Dr. Karogo.

In the new schedule, examination centres should have to upload all the milestone one data by end of this month. The deadline for entering milestone two details has been slated for January 31, 2021.
