Sombre mood as Lugulu Girls’ teacher is buried

Tears were shed as the community bid farewell to their beloved teacher, Lydia Nanjala, who was laid to rest after her battle with cancer.

A somber atmosphere enveloped Kuywa, Sitikho Ward in Bungoma County as people gathered to honor Lydia Nanjala Wanjala, a 42-year-old teacher from Lugulu Girls High School who passed away due to complications from breast cancer.

She was the second daughter of Patrick Wanjala Anyiri, a retired educator from Sirare village.

The funeral was attended by notable figures, including former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati and Professor Charles Kibanani Ngome, along with other politicians.

Lydia was remembered as a committed teacher and a strict disciplinarian whose influence will be lasting.

Beyond her role as an educator, she was also a mother, a mentor, and a woman of strong convictions who upheld her principles.

Students from Lugulu Girls recalled her as a humble and generous individual who made a significant impact on many lives.

Lydia Nanjala’s commitment to education and the numerous students she guided will always be treasured. Her loss will be profoundly felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
