Summary of KNEC 2026 Sensitisation.

Here is a summary of the 2026 Kenya National Examinations Council, Knec, guidelines:

1. KPSEA – Deadline 16th March midnight.
2. KJSEA and KCSE deadline 31st March.
3. No transfer of learners after the portal closes.
4. Make sure the biodata of learners is correct for KPSEA registration.
5. No biodata change for KCSE registration.
6. Amendments for biodata after registration:

– KCPE – KSh 3000
– KCSE – KSh 5000

7. Avoid under-protest cases in KCSE: a fine of KSh 7200 afterwards once the error on e-registration is visible, plus other disciplinary measures for the centre or results being pended.
8. Those doing General Science in KCSE must also do Mathematics Alternative B.
9. Make sure the passport photo pixel size is 300×300 before uploading for KCSE.
10. Grade 10 (Senior School): Senior Schools to log in to the CBA portal with their KCSE credentials and click on Senior School. Fill in the details and pay KSh 5000 upon completion through the prompt via e-Citizen.
11. Grade 10 project is on the portal to be carried out between March and July.
12. Grade 10 written test will be administered in October.
13. There is no late registration for KPSEA. The penalty is KSh 4000.
14. KJSEA repeaters’ fee – KSh 4500.
15. Learners in Grade 9 who did not sit for KPSEA to do the Qualifying Test (QT). Registration is between 2nd and 19th March – KSh 3000.
16. QT assessment will be done between 23rd March and 27th March.
17. Any centre which does not register Grade 3 learners will pay KSh 1000 per learner in Grade 4 and 5.
18. Grade 4 and 5 learners are already on the portal.
19. Portals that were deleted: Centres to liaise with KNEC through their SCDEs for reactivation.
20. Disabled codes to register in neighbouring schools, especially for KPSEA, as the matter is sorted.
21. Registration of ghost candidates will lead to cancellation of the centre.
22. Centres with less than 10 candidates to register them in other centres.
23. Centres with more than 10 but less than 30 to register within their portal but to be hosted.
24. Qualifying Test for foreigners – KSh 3530 processed through QMIS.
25. Registration for QT for foreigners ends on 31st July.
26. Centres to select exam distribution containers near them irrespective of sub-county to reduce the cost of administration.
27. KCSE projects

– Milestone 1: 1 April to 30 April
– Milestone 2: 1 July to 31 July
– Failure attracts a fine of KSh 1000.
28. Schools, especially private schools, despite the many challenges they face, must strive to provide a conducive learning environment for learners and employ TSC-regulated teachers.
29. On disappearing learners on the portal: KNEC to look into that via written queries through the SCDE.
30. Centres to give children their assessment numbers as from Grade 3 because it is their right.
31. KCSE age limit has been increased to 24 years for candidates in regular school centres.
32. Candidates who register for KCSE and disappear only to appear during exams: SCDE to handle.
33. All queries must pass through the SCDE before being sent to KNEC.
34. Senior school CBE integration: selected Centres have been identified as common communication points.
