Teacher’s decomposing body found at Nurse’s house

The body of a Primary school head teacher, who had been reported missing, was on Sunday discovered in a house belonging to a nurse in Nyamira County.

The badly mutilated body of Mr Ezekiel Nkeere Gitangwa, 47, was found hidden in a room used for poultry keeping.

According to police reports, the body was covered with a carpet and had started decomposing.

Police had to break into the house of the Nyamaiya Health Centre-based nurse to access the body. But the health worker was not in the house. The nurse has since been identified as Agneta Agwata.

“We received a report from the teacher’s wife Gladys Bonareri Achoki that her husband was missing,” read the Nyamira police report; in part.

The late Ezekiel was the immediate head teacher of Getengereirie primary school in North Mugirango Constituency.

He was a big lover of sports and was fondly referred to as ‘OmoChelsea’ because of his unwaivering support for the English Premier league club Chelsea FC.

The teacher was last seen at 9 am on Friday, the same day he was reported missing.

“This is the same day when he was dropped by a boda boda rider at Egesieri village, West Mugirango location. A missing person report was circulated and a search mounted, leading investigators to the house belonging to the nurse,” indicated the police report.

The body of the deceased teacher was moved to Nyamira County Hospital Mortuary by the police awaiting postmortem.

Investigations to unravel the cause of his death are underway.

The death of Mwalimu Ezekiel comes few days after another gruesome death of Rangenyo Girls school Principal Lydia Onyoni.
