TERM 1 School Games 2025: Latest Results, Standings and Fixtures

The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Term One Games reached an exciting peak on Friday as familiar rivals faced off in thrilling semi-final matchups at Shanzu Teachers College and Shimo La Tewa High School in Mombasa.

A highly anticipated basketball boys’ semi-final is set between former champions Laiser Hill from Rift Valley and Dagoretti High School, reigniting their ongoing rivalry. This matchup is a rematch of last year’s intense group stage game, where Laiser Hill triumphed 61-35 to advance to the semi-finals in Machakos, although they ultimately lost to Dr. Aggrey in the final, missing out on a record-extending tenth title.

In their previous encounter in the 2023 final held in Eldoret, the Kajiado-based team secured a narrow victory over Dagoretti, winning 45-43 to claim their ninth national title. Dagoretti will be eager to finally overcome their rivals, who also defeated them in the 2019 final, which took place in Mombasa.

In the other semi-final, defending champions Dr. Aggrey, who recovered from a slow start, will compete against the determined representatives from the Eastern region, Lukenya from Machakos. After suffering a 95-71 loss to Dagoretti in their opening match, Dr. Aggrey bounced back with wins against Kamusinga (75-71) and Pioneer (66-54), aiming for a second consecutive national title this year.

In the girls’ competition, defending champions Butere Girls dominated Asumbi Girls from Nyanza with a score of 63-36, securing the top position in Group B and setting up a semi-final clash with Nairobi champions Olympic. Meanwhile, former champions and local favorites Kaya Tiwi will face St. Joseph’s Kitale from Rift Valley in the other semi-final. Kaya Tiwi topped Group A after defeating Olympic 86-50, mirroring their 2022 final victory where they won 60-54 to claim their last national title.
