###Grade 6 pupil misses out KPSEA math exam for allegedly stealing KES 2,000

A Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examinations candidate at Kibumbu Primary School in Tharaka Nithi County was denied a chance to sit for the Mathematics paper on claims that she stole KES 2000 from a teacher.

###Kirinyaga County official denies claims of STI prevalence among students

Kirinyaga County executive officer for medical services and public health George Karoki has disputed a report claiming 12,000 of 16,000 high school students in the Kirinyaga Central sub-county received treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

In a statement released on Monday, Karoki said it was impossible to substantiate the claims made by Kennedy Machora, the director of education for Kirinyaga Central Sub-county.

According to Karoki, in Kirinyaga Central Sub-county alone, there were 1,345 cases of STIs reported and treated this year, and there were 4,409 cases across the entire county.

He however clarified that these instances are for the general populace rather than a particular patient cohort.

“Whereas community education to deter our youths from risky sexual behavior must be embraced by all sectors, it is equally important for officers in other departments to consult the health department for accurate data,” Karoki said.

Karoki claimed that the data released was greatly exaggerated and that its source was unconfirmed.
