Training Schedule for TSC Teachers in April 2025

In April, TSC teachers will participate in several training sessions. Below is a summary of the key trainings that many teachers will attend:

1) Five-Day Retraining for JSS Teachers by TSC

From April 21 to April 25, 2025, junior secondary school (JSS) teachers will undergo a five-day retraining program.

This in-person training is aimed at teachers specializing in languages, science, mathematics, humanities, and technical subjects. The sessions will be held at Teacher Training Colleges (TTC) and other selected locations within the county.

2) KNEC Training for KJSEA Examiners

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will conduct training for teachers who will be assessing the Grade 9 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA).

Teachers applied for this training in March, paying a mandatory fee of KSh 10,500, with applications submitted online. Those shortlisted completed an online orientation course before being invited to the in-person training, which runs from Monday, April 14, to Thursday, April 17, 2025.

The following institutions have been designated as training centers for the examiners:

– Kiswahili – Machakos Girls
– English – Maryhill Girls
– Business Studies (BST) – Murang’a TTC
– Agriculture – Kilimambogo TTC
– Mathematics – St. Francis Girls, Mang’u
– Geography – Sunshine Secondary School
– History – Sunshine Secondary School
– Christian Religious Education (CRE) – Machakos TTC
– Biology – St. George Secondary School
– Chemistry – St. George Secondary School
– Physics – St. George’s Secondary School

3) KNEC Training for Item Writing

KNEC will also hold a training session for Item Writers. Teachers were invited to apply for this training through an advertisement.

The selected teachers will assist in creating quality test items to effectively implement Competency-Based Assessment at both Basic Education and teacher training levels.

The deadline for online applications for item writing training was April 11, 2025, and applications were submitted via the link: http://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke.
