In the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) 2025 – 2029 which TSC and teachers unions signed, the Commission pledged to promote teachers across all cadres at a cost of Sh1 Billion this financial year.

Last Saturday, President William Ruto promised to increase the number of teacher promotions from the current 25,000 to 50,000 annually.

Speaking during a State House meeting with teachers, Ruto said his government will double allocation for teacher promotions from sh 1 billion to sh 2 billion yearly.

Since he took office in 2022 a total of 97,255 teachers have been promoted, the largest to be witnessed in short span.

TSC declared a total of 14,034 teacher promotions in December 2022, 36,275 in September 2023, 25,633 in 2024 and 21,313 in August 2025 bringing the total to 97,255.
