TSC Mass recruitment 2021 details- TSC latest news

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nancy Macharia has said the commission will hire 5,000 teachers beginning July.

In a media statement sent to newsrooms, Macharia said the Treasury has allocated Sh2.5 billion for the recruitment of the teachers.

“This is to ease the teachers load in handling the increased enrollment. Qualified unemployed and registered teachers to look out for advertisements for applications next month,” read her statement in part.

She further stated that another 6,000 intern teachers will also be recruited in the 2021/22 financial year.

“The Treasury had allocated Sh1 billion for the CBC teacher training in the next financial year. We have trained more than 100,000 teachers in readiness for CBC implementation in Grade 5 in July,” the communication read.

Macharia noted that already they have trained 156,000 teachers in primary schools on CBC.

The funding shortfall means the Commission will not achieve its target of hiring 25,000 teachers and 12,000 interns next financial year amid a biting shortage across the country.

Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani in his Budget speech last week proposed an allocation of Sh2.5 billion for recruitment of teachers, Sh1 billion for the CBC, and Sh281.7 billion to the Teachers Service Commission.

TSC had proposed an allocation of Sh300.5 billion to finance its activities, including hiring more teachers to manage the increased student population under the government’s 100 percent transition from primary school.
