TSC Promotions 2025: How Senator Fatuma Dullo Successfully pushed for promotions of her teachers
Senator Fatuma Dullo has effectively advocated for the promotion of over 30 teachers across different educational levels, showcasing her dedication to supporting Kenya’s education workforce.
Her efforts coincide with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) releasing the list of promoted teachers and starting to distribute the first batch of promotion letters.
Senator Dullo’s focused intervention reflects her awareness of the competitive challenges that Kenyan educators face.
With an overwhelming 189,000 teachers vying for only 25,288 promotion positions nationwide, her advocacy played a vital role in ensuring that deserving educators in her constituency were given proper consideration.
Her lobbying aligns with TSC’s significant promotion initiative, which allocated 16,109 positions for primary schools and 9,179 for post-primary institutions. The Commission has dispatched letters to County Directors’ offices.
Sources close to the Senator reveal that she particularly supported educators who have shown remarkable dedication despite working under difficult conditions. Her advocacy aimed to ensure equitable representation across primary schools, secondary institutions, and Teacher Training Colleges.
“Senator Dullo recognizes that teacher motivation directly influences educational outcomes,” remarked an education stakeholder familiar with her initiatives.
“By facilitating these promotions, she is not only assisting individual teachers but also enhancing the overall education system.”
The Senator’s engagement comes at a crucial time when teacher advancement is a pressing issue in Kenya’s education sector, with this year’s promotions generating significant interest from educators seeking career growth.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced that a list of teachers who were promoted to higher positions is now available. This follows interviews that took place in January and February of this year.
On April 2, 2025, TSC shared that 25,252 teachers were promoted, after 36,505 teachers were promoted in March of the previous year.
The interviews for teachers in secondary schools and Teacher Training Colleges happened from January 27 to February 6, 2025. For primary school teachers, the interviews were held from January 13 to January 23, 2025.
The interview teams included Curriculum Support Officers, Human Resource Officers, and Sub-County Directors, who checked the teachers’ documents. Teachers had to show their ID, academic certificates, and other important papers.
TSC had initially announced 25,288 promotion opportunities for both primary and secondary teachers. The first announcement, made between November 12 and November 18, 2024, included 5,690 positions for school directors. Later, on December 17, 2024, TSC advertised 19,943 teaching jobs in different categories, with 9,179 for secondary schools and 16,109 for primary schools.
To check if they have been promoted, teachers can visit the TSC website. They should look for the section on the homepage that has the latest updates and click on “List of Successful Teacher Promotions 2024-2025.” This will open a new window with a PDF file containing the names of all the teachers who were promoted, which they can download to see the full list.
