The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, will conduct promotions interviews from 13th January to 7th February 2025. A statement from the Commission has indicated.

Already, an email has been sent regarding the promotional interviews scheduled from 13th January to 7th February 2025 has been sent to all County Directors containing the scoring guides and lists of shortlisted teachers.

“To provide candidates with the required 7-day notice, invitations should go out from 6th January”. Reads the TSC Memo in part.

The TSC County Directors have been asked to ensure all necessary documents are urgently sent to the Sub County Directors before the interviews kick off.

The interviews will be conducted in two phases with Phase one targeting Primary School Teachers in Advertisements C2 to D1.

Post Primary Teachers’ interviews will be conducted in phase two and will target shortlisted applicants for Adverts C3 to D2 and D3 to D5.

19,943ย promotion vacancies available for teachers

TSC is seeking to fill 19,943 promotion vacancies for teachers in primary and secondary schools and some for tertiary institutions.

The positions for the highest TSC Salary Scele of chief principals, senior principals, principals, deputy principals, senior lecturers, senior masters, secondary teacher I, senior headteacher (special schools), headteachers, deputy headteachers as well as senior teacher positions.

The positions for chief principals are 44. The qualified applicants for these positions must have served as Senior Principal T-Scale 14 for a minimum period of three (3) years; have satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal and performance contracting process; have demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and provide professional support to other teachers and must meet any other requirements deemed necessary by the Commission.

According to TSC, three positions are vacant for Chief Principal (TTC) T scale 15, and the applicants interested to be appointment to this grade must have served as Senior Principal T-Scale 14 for a minimum period of three years; must have satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal and performance contracting process; and have demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and provide professional support to other teachers.

The positions for Senior Principals, regular secondary school (T-SCALE 14) are 126.

Those seeking to be promoted to Principal/ Deputy Principal I, T-Scale 13 should have served for a minimum period of three years; must have obtained a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process, and must have demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and provide professional support to other teachers.

Three posts are available for Chief Principal (TTC) T scale 14. Those who will be lucky to be promoted to this grade will be required to have served as Principal/ Deputy Principal I, T-Scale 13 for a minimum period of three years; have obtained a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process; and must have demonstrated the ability to supervise, mentor and provide professional support to other teachers.

A total of 652 posts will be filled by Principal T scale 13, and the teachers who will get promotion to this grade must have served as Deputy Principal II/Senior Master I, T-Scale 12 for a minimum period of six months. They must have also obtained a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process, and must have demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and provide professional support to other teachers.

Also, three posts are available for Deputy Principal (TTC) T scale 13, and those to be promoted here must have served as Deputy Principal II/Senior Master I/ Senior Lecturer I, T-Scale 12 for a minimum period of 6 months, have obtained a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process, and should have demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and provide professional support to other teachers.

A total of 786 posts are available for Deputy Principal II (Post primary) T scale 12, and some of the requirements demands that those seeking promotion must have served as Deputy Principal III or Senior Master II T-Scale 11 for a minimum period of 6 months, must have obtained a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process, and demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and provide professional support to other teachers.

The Commission is also seeking to fill 3,653 posts for Deputy Head Teacher II (regular primary school) T-SCALE 9.

The positions are open for teachers who have served as Senior Teacher I T- Scale 8 for a minimum period of six months, and have satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal.

Another 1,408 posts are available for Deputy Principal III (post primary) T-SCALE 11. Those eyeing these posts must have served as Senior Master III T-Scale 10 for a minimum period of six months, and have obtained a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process.

Equally, 13 positions for Senior Lecturer I (TTC) T-SCALE 12, and those eyeing the vacancies must have served as Senior Lecturer II T-Scale 11 for a minimum period of six months, obtained a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process, and have demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and provide professional support to other teachers.

Other positions to be filled during the interviews include: Senior lecturer TTC โ€“ T scale 11 (32 posts), Senior Master II (two positions), Senior Master III (Regular School) T Scale 10 (1987 posts), Senior Lecturer III (TTC) T-SCALE-10 (61 posts), Senior Master IV (post primary), T-SCALE 9 (2,221 POSTS), Senior Lecturer IV (TTC) T-SCALE 9 (70 posts), 184 posts for Secondary Teacher I (Diploma Teachers in secondary only), T-SCALE 8, ,308 positions for Head Teacher (regular primary), T-SCALE 10, 254 positions for Senior Head Teacher (regular primary), T SCALE 11, a total of 4,708 posts for Senior teacher I (regular primary schoolโ€“ T-SCALE 8, and 1,364 posts for Senior Teacher II (regular primary) โ€“ T-SCALE 7.

The TSC County Directors will oversee the Promotion interviews and send data to the Head Quarter. Succesful applicants will then get promotions letters.
