TSC responds to a case of a teacher who was recruited but is yet to be posted: Latest TSC news

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has set the record straight over the case of a female teacher who was recruited in 2017 but is yet to be posted. The teacher identified as Lydia Ireri graduated from the University of Nairobi in 2015.

When an advert for a TSC teaching job was released in 2017, she applied, attended the interview and was recruited. What had seemed to be good news to her quickly escalated into agony as the long wait for her posting letter ensued. Several attempts to reach the TSC for assistance failed; leaving her dejected and frustrated.

On Monday August 3, 2020 she decided to visit the TSC headquarters in Nairobi; in the company of her child. To her shock, she was not allowed into the premises. It is at this time that her story and photographs were shared on Social Media.

Busia County Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Florence Mutua, was first to respond and asked for further details.

TSC could then respond on Monday night. The Commission said the teacher in question was supposed to receive her posting later but the process has been derailed by the covid-19 pandemic.

“Our attention is drawn to some social media reports about the status of teacher Lydia Ireri’s job. She was recruited but has not been posted due to Covid 19 pandemic. Posting letter will be issued when schools re-open.” Said TSC via their official Twitter Page.

The Commission’s response will indeed cool the nerves of teacher Lydia and others who have been sweating over delays in receiving their posting letters.
