The Commission noted that applications must be submitted online through the TSC website at www.tsc.go.ke under the ‘Careers’ section or via teachersonline.tsc.go.ke by October 7, 2024, midnight.
“Details on available vacancies per county/Sub-Counties/or schools is in the Teachers Service Commission’s website: www.tsc.go.ke,” the Commission said.
To qualify, TSC said applicants must be Kenyan citizens, they should hold a minimum of a P1 certificate for primary school positions and a diploma in education for junior secondary and secondary schools.
Additionally, all candidates must also be registered with the Teachers Service Commission.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to present their original academic and professional certificates.
TSC has warned that submitting more than one application will lead to disqualification and manual applications will not be accepted.
“Successful candidates must not fill more than one Application for Employment Form. Filling out two or more Application for Employment Forms will lead to disqualification,” TSC said.
Serving interns have also been urged to apply within their current counties, sub-counties, or workstations and will only be required to present their identity cards during verification.
The Commission emphasised that it is an equal opportunity employer, encouraging persons with disabilities to apply.
Caution
It also cautioned applicants to beware of fraudsters who may seek to exploit the recruitment process by soliciting money.
“The recruitment exercise is free of charge. The Teachers Service Commission forewarns applicants against fraudsters who might extort money from unsuspecting persons purporting to assist in recruitment,” TSC said.
The Commission has urged Kenyans to report fraudulent activity to the nearest TSC office or police station. Reports can also be made by contacting the Director of Staffing at 0202892193, the Deputy Director of Staffing at 0202892131, or via email at [email protected] or [email protected].
Further details on the available vacancies by county, sub-county, or school can be found on the TSC website.
The recruitment exercise comes even after the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) opposed the government proposal to competitively hire intern teachers on permanent terms.
KUPPET Secretary-General Akelo Misori criticised the directive, stating that the intern teachers, “who have diligently served for two years,” already have a binding agreement with the TSC.
Misori noted that the contract should guarantee their automatic confirmation of permanent and pensionable terms without further requirements.
“KUPPET rejects Ogamba’s directive on these teachers to apply for their jobs afresh,” Misori said.
KUPPET Chairman Omboko Milemba warned that the decision could lead to unrest among educators, emphasising the crucial role intern teachers have played in maintaining the education system.
“The Cabinet Secretary should not provoke both the public and teachers over this issue concerning the employment of intern teachers on permanent terms. Teachers recently called off their strike and returned to class,” Milemba warned.
According to TSC, 6,000 positions are available for primary schools, 39,550 for junior secondary schools and 450 for secondary schools.
