TSC to employ 58,000 teachers yearly under President Ruto’s Government – Official

President William Ruto has given serious commitments on some of the pressing challenges facing teachers. On 23, June 2022 at the Catholic University of East Africa, the then Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate read out his manifesto to the teachers of Kenya.

Addressing the teacher deficit within two years:

From the pool of over 300,000 unemployed teachers, the new government will employ 116,000 in the first two years. The government would allocate Sh25 billion to employ 58,000 teachers in the first year.

Paying for Teacher Professional Development (TPD) training: In line with Parliament’s recommendation that the government meet the cost of TPD, the Kenya Kwanza government would absolve teachers of the burden.
