TSC transfers several Principals in Migori County

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has made several changes on the management of secondary schools in Migori County, moving some principals and replacing others.

The exercise has been occasioned by the need to replace retiring principals and also normal transfers to improve service delivery.

Those affected include the Kanyawanga High School Principal Jacob Mbogo, who is retiring after a long and illustrious career in the teaching service. His replacement at West Kamagambo School in Rongo, Migori County, will be Jacob Ajwang’ from St Patrick Mosocho in Kitutu Central, Kisii County.

In Nyamuga Mixed Secondary School, also in Rongo Sub-county, Pauline Odinga transfers to Nyambare Mixed Secondary in Karachuonyo in neighbouring Homa Bay County. It was not immediately clear who replaces her at Nyamuga nor who was her predecessor at the new station.

At Matagaro Mixed also in Rongo, Paul Were has been posted as the new principal to replace Abel Ong’ola who retired last month. Were was previously heading Wachara Secondary School in Homa Bay County before his transfer.

Similarly, Dr. Gedion Mwanda who was the principal of Kangeso Boys High School in Rongo has retired after years of remarkable service as a school manager. Francis Ombaka from Ombasa Secondary School in Awendo Sub-county in the same county has been picked as his replacement.

In the recent handing over exercise conducted by the Rongo Sub-county Director of Education Duncan Odhiambo at Kanyawanga, Mbogo, the outgoing head, thanked parents, teachers and students for the support they accorded him during his administration at the institution.

“We have grown together in building our school and now I handover to my brother here and I urge you to give him similar cooperation as you did to me when I was steering the affairs of this school,” the outgoing principal told the school community.

Commenting on the changes, Migori County Director of Education Jacob Onyiego, who spoke to Education News on phone, said the movement of school heads is a routine exercise and called on school boards to offer their full support to the incoming principals.
