TSC Unveils List of 25,252 Newly Promoted Teachers: Here’s How to Check

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has unveiled a roster of educators who have ascended to higher ranks following successful interviews held earlier this year in January and February.

In a statement released on April 2, 2025, TSC announced the elevation of 25,252 teachers, just months after promoting another 36,505 educators in March of the previous year.

The promotion interviews for post-primary teachers took place from January 27 to February 6, 2025, encompassing secondary schools and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs). Meanwhile, primary school teachers underwent their interviews from January 13 to January 23, 2025.

The panels conducting the interviews included Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs), Human Resource Officers, and Sub-County Directors, who meticulously verified documents. Teachers were required to present their identification, academic qualifications, and other vital paperwork for scrutiny.

Initially, TSC had announced 25,288 available promotion positions for both primary and post-primary educators. The first advertisement, which ran from November 12 to November 18, 2024, offered 5,690 roles for school directors. Additionally, on December 17, 2024, the commission advertised 19,943 teaching positions in occupational groups C1 through D3, with 9,179 positions earmarked for post-primary institutions and 16,109 for primary schools.

Navigate to the updates section and click on “List of Successful Teacher Promotions 2023-2024.” This will direct you to a new window containing a downloadable PDF file listing all successful candidates. Promoted teachers will find their names alongside their respective TSC numbers in this document.

These promotions were announced shortly after the commission activated its online application portal, inviting qualified primary school teachers interested in positions at Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) to apply.

Opportunities at JSS

In January, TSC specified that only teachers employed under permanent and pensionable terms in public primary schools who meet the necessary qualifications should apply for JSS roles. Eligible candidates must be currently serving as primary school teachers with TSC, having achieved a Mean Grade of C+ in their KCSE and at least a C+ in two cluster subjects relevant to the JSS curriculum.

The deployment to JSS comes with numerous advantages, including enhanced remuneration, opportunities for professional growth, and the chance to engage in a dynamic and evolving educational landscape.

To apply, teachers were advised to visit the TSC online application portal and log in with their TSC number and password.

The deployment slots were limited to 6,000 vacancies, with the commission seeking to bridge a 72,422-teacher deficit in JSS across the country.
