The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has issued a red alert over conmen in the ongoing recruitment.
Kirinyaga County Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Director Dr. Samwel Marigat has cautioned area residents to be wary of con people who might lure them into the trap of false promises as the commission prepares to recruit new teachers.
Speaking to potential applicants at Kirinyaga Central NG-CDF offices in Kerugoya, Marigat said the commission will recruit on a free and fair model, insisting there will be no recruitment agents working on behalf TSC.
“Employment of the teachers is based on the qualifications and does not attract any amount of money from the potential employee at any point. If anyone asks for money please report to us or our security officers,” Marigat said.
He urged unemployed youths in the county to follow laid down procedures while applying for jobs in the TSC, Public Service and other sectors to avoid being conned.
Marigat also urged the job seekers to be truthful when applying for the jobs advertised. He told the over 300 would be applicants that canvassing will lead to automatic cancellation and the blame will not be on the TSC.
He also called upon all potential applicants to apply because in future they will use databases in recruitment.
“I urge all of you to apply, if you are not successful today in future we will only be calling you for verification because we already have your data,” he added
The meeting was organized by area national assembly member Joseph Gachoki Gitari in a bid to enable the applicants seek clarification from the TSC as the application commences and also to avail the database of TSC registered unemployed teachers.
The MP said the government is working on achievement of the target of employing 116,000 teachers and the 30,000 vacancies already advertised will be a big boost in preparation of junior secondary schools under the new curriculum.
He said he organized the meeting for the applicants to work from a point of information from the Teachers Service Commission and the Ministry of Education. The teacher’s database according to Gitari will help in coming up with a supplementary budget for the TSC in parliament.
“We want the applicants to get all relevant information from TSC as they apply for the positions. They must know what is required on the verification dates,” explained Gitari.
“I will also get the database of registered teachers that will help us in lobbying for TSC funds during the preparation of a supplementary budget to help them recruit more teachers,” the MP said.
The meeting was attended by Kirinyaga Central Deputy County Commissioner Daniel Ndege and County Director of Education Shadrack Radeng.’
