What parents and learners should expect as a new term 2 of 2025 begins

It will be a busy term as learners report back to school after the April holiday break. Schools had gone for a three-week holiday which is expected to come to an end on Monday the 28th of April. The period might have seemed short for the students but not for the parents. This might as well have been the longest three weeks they have ever had.

As schools resume on 28th April, for a fourteen-week learning period, teachers and students will be in for a tight race. This is usually the longest term and the most rigorous term.

With each teacher trying to complete the syllabus within the stipulated timeframe, it makes it one of the most actively engaging periods.

The students will be having a five-day break as from the 25th of June. Below is how the school calendar will be looking like.

The Kenya primary school Education Assessment (KPSEA) for Grade six learners will commence on 27th of October to 30th of October.

The Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) for Grades seven and eight will take a span of five days from the 27th of October to 31st October.

The Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) for Grade 6 learners in the 8-4-4 system will begin on the 27th of October to 6th of November.

The Kenya Pre-Vocational Level Education Assessment (KPLEA) for learners in pre-vocational level will be done from the 27th of October to 6th of November.

The final part of the school calendar will be heavy and learners together with teachers are preparing for this. For the parents, there will be a ton of assessments material needed and might take a toll on them financially.
