A MESSAGE FROM TSC KENYA TELLING YOU ARE NOT ON THE PAYROLL AND POSSIBLE ACTIONS TO TAKE
Sometimes you may find yourself removed from the Teachers Service Commission, TSC, Payroll. This means that your salary won’t be processed until you are appointed back to the payroll.
An SMS from TSC Kenya stating you are not on the payroll typically means your salary for that month will not be processed, often due to an “exited” status initiated by your school head (often during transfers or leave). It is an urgent notification indicating your name is not in the current active payroll system, requiring immediate clearance from your school or TSC office to avoid long-term suspension.
What “Not on Payroll” Commonly Means:
- Transfer Issues: Your previous principal has “exited” you from their institution on the system, but the new station has not yet “entered” (received) you, causing a gap.
- Leave/Absence: You are on study leave, maternity leave, or sick leave, and the system shows you as temporarily inactive.
- Missing Casualty Return: Your Head of Institution (HOI) has not submitted your monthly casualty form (a monthly return confirming you are still working) to the TSC sub-county director.
- Disciplinary Action/Interdiction: You have been suspended, interdicted, or are facing a disciplinary case, resulting in automatic removal from the payroll.
- Data Errors: Incorrect entry of personal details in the IPPD system.
What You Should Do Immediately:
In case you have been removed from the TSC Payroll, quickly take the following action:
- Contact your Head of Institution (HOI): Ask them to verify if they have submitted your monthly casualty returns.
- Visit the Sub-County TSC Office: Inquire about your status to ensure it is not a technical error or an issue with your transfer.
- Check your T-Pay: Log in to the TSC T-Pay portal to confirm your status and check if your latest payslip is available.
- Avoid Long Delays: If not sorted quickly, you may be permanently removed from the payroll, requiring a lengthy process to be reinstated.
Note: For new recruits, this might mean your paperwork is still being processed, as new teachers can take up to a month to be captured.
