KCSE 2024 Examinations Period
The exam started on October 22, where the candidates took their oral and practical exams for the elective subjects. The Candidates then sat for their first theory papers On Monday 04/11/2024 with the candidates writing the English Functional Skills paper during the morning hours, while Chemistry Paper 1 was administered in the afternoon.
The last day of the national exams was November 22, when the candidates sat the Physics practical.
Summary of KCSE 2024 Examination Materials Returned to KNEC
After the exams, all the Sub-County Directors of Education submitted the following examination materials to KNEC:
- Candidates’ answer sheets/scripts and CDs/Flash disks.
- Completed Attendance registers for Candidates, Supervisors, Invigilators and other accountable tracking documents.
- Question papers with errors, missing pages, blank or smudged pages.
- Completed Reports and Certificates of Supervision.
- Head teacher’s confidential report.
- Reports on Irregularities together with any seized material (where applicable).
- Downloaded and signed online attendance registers for the examination and distribution centres.
- All empty question papers packets with the declaration duly signed and their corresponding cover pages .
- The empty cartons/ spare/unused bags, corresponding number of hooks, used/unused seals, return envelopes and answer booklets.
- Allocation of work to invigilators Record Printout.
KCSE 2024 Examinations Marking
Marking of the KCSE 2024 exams is being done in several marking centres in Nairobi and neighbouruing towns like Limuru, Thika and Machakos among others.
The Kenya National Examinations Council, Knec, has spelt out tough marking conditions and expelling some other examiners over undisclosed reasons.
The marking Exercise that kicked off on 1st December, 2024 is expected to be completed in the next few days; paving way for the release of the Candidates’ results.

KCSE 2024 Examination Results Release
The KCSE 2024 results will then be presented to the Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Migosi Ogamba who will then brief the President on this year’s performance. The CS will then release the KCSE results to the Candidates and general public.

KCSE 2024 Examination Results Release Details
During the release of the 2024 KCSE Examination results, the Education Cabinet Secretary will provide such details as the total number of candidates who sat the Examination this year compared with the number that actually registered to sit the Examination. He will provide a breakdown of the Candidates’ details in terms of gender and age.
The CS will then give the general trend in performance per subject and also reveal the top performing candidates. Further, details on number of candidates in terms of mean grades will also be provided.
