Education Ministry says 2023 form one selection will be fair

The selection exercise for the 2023 form one placement will be fair to all 2022 KCPE candidates. The Education Ministry says.

According to Education Principal Secretary, PS, Belio Kipsang the selection exercise that will be completed on January 16 2023 will be free and very fair.

Dr. Belio Kipsang assured private schools that there will be no preferential treatment. In the past, KCPE candidates from public primary schools have been given priority over those from private schools. Learners from public schools have always gotten more chances in National and Extra County schools.

All the 1,233,852 KCPE 2022 candidates will be joining secondary schools next year.

Kipsang gave an assurance that all the candidates will transition to form one pledging to ensure the pupils are admitted to secondary schools of their choice

β€œAs we look forward to commencing the form one selection in Jan 2023. We want to assure all parents, guardians and learners that we shall be transparent, fair and we shall do the right thing for each child to get a school that they chose & deserve to be there” Said Dr. Kipsang.

Kenya Private Schools Association’s national vice chairman Solomon Munene has been quoted saying that the form one selection process should be pegged on pupils’ performance.

β€œLet us reward hard work and let all candidates be able to access the secondary schools of their choice as per their performance. All candidates are Kenyan children and it is our believe that the Form 1 selection will be fair to all. Private schools are keenly watching,” he said.

Normal school calendar resumes next year on January 25 when schools open for 2023 term one.
