Full list of winners in KSSSA term one games in Mombasa 2025

The hierarchy of the National School competition was altered as the Brookside KSSSA National Secondary School Term One school games wrapped up in Mombasa on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

Schools from the Western region of Kenya solidified their supremacy with their near perfect performance indicating the region’s recognition as a center for sports development and talent.

Butere Girls, whose ‘Echoes Of War’ play in the national college and drama festivals has stirred considerable attention, demonstrated their “Queens of the Courts’ status in Basketball with a third consecutive nationals final.

The Kakamega County-based school achieved a 76-53 victory over the coastal-based Kaya Tiwi.

In rugby, Vihiga High secured the Rugby 15s boys’ championship after defeating Kisii School 14-6 in an exhilarating final that witnessed the two teams from the western region of Kenya compete for the new national rugby 15s title.

Kisii School, the representatives from Nyanza, had overthrown the defending champions and East Africa champions, All Saints of Embu, in the semifinals to set up a match against Vihiga.

Laiser Hill broke the Western school dominance by winning the basketball boys’ national title after narrowly defeating defending champions Dr Aggrey.

The victory fulfilled the team’s commitment to avenge a loss suffered in 2024 against their coastal opponents.

Other victorious teams included Musingu Boys and Kimilili’s St Luke’s Boys who maintained their Hockey and Handball titles with wins against St Anthony’s and St Albert Kamito Boys respectively.

Kimilili halted Kamito’s surprising comeback in the national games with a final score of 35-18.

The West Pokot county team, Kamito, had defeated Nyanza representatives Manyatta in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Moi Girls Kamusinga’s 24-14 victory over St Joseph Girls from Kitale marked a complete sweep for the Western team in handball games.

Tigoi Girls from the Western region also retained their title in the girls’ category. Salome Anyango’s decisive shot in the 50th minute capped a memorable 3-2 win over St Joseph Girls Kitale.

The team’s focus now shifts to intensifying preparations for the Federation of East Africa School (FEASSSA) Games.

The East Africa games will return to Kenya in 2025 starting in August this year.
