UPDATE: SUMMARY of President Ruto’s press briefing today at State house, Nairobi.

-President William Ruto has appointed a taskforce to conduct a forensic audit of Kenya’s public debt. The Taskforce is expected to table its report within three months.

-47 overlapping institutions in various ministries will be closed to reduce on expenditure.

-The number of advisers in government shall be reduced by 50% within the public service

-The decision to fill the positions of Chief Administrative Secretaries (CAS) is suspended

-Purchase of new motor vehicles in govt suspended for 12 months, except for security agencies.

-The government will hire JSS teachers and medical interns.

– Ruto suspends non-essential travel for govt workers

-President Ruto has banned all state officers and public servants from participating in public contributions or Harambees

-The offices of spouses, Rachel Ruto, Dorcas Rigathi and Tessy Mudavadi will not receive budget.

-The number of government advisors within the public service shall be reduced by 50%.
