Junior Secondary School Teachers- Latest TSC News
Primary school teachers who will be deployed to teach junior secondary school (JSS) will be promoted. These teachers will be added to the 30,550 the government is hiring to teach junior high, which will be domiciled in selected primary schools.

The Commission will retool teachers with the following qualifications to enable them to teach Junior Secondary at Grades 7, 8, and 9.
- Diploma and Degree in Special Needs Education
- Diploma and Degree in Early Childhood Development Education
- Diploma and Degree in Education (Primary option)
- Diploma in Education (Secondary option)
- Degree in Education (Secondary option) but lacking C+ at KCSE or C+ in teaching subjects.
The training of Grade 7 teachers will involve the following areas offered in JSS.
- Mathematics;
- Languages;
- Pure Sciences (integrated science biology, chemistry, physics, and health education)
- Applied sciences – agriculture, home science, and computer studies
- Humanities (social studies, religious studies, and life skills
- Technical subjects and creative arts (pre-vocational and pre-career business studies, music, sports, physical education, Home science.

Posting of the newly recruited teachers to Junior Secondary Schools will be guided by the Learning Areas that a teacher is required to teach as per the guide published on the TSC Website.
TSC County Director MUST ensure that in case a school has more than one stream, teachers posted are of different specialties i.e. Humanities, Sciences, Languages, Mathematics or Technical to ensure their optimal utilization.
