KMTC secures top spot in latest Webometrics Rankings 2024

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has been recognized as the premier tertiary institution in Kenya according to the latest Webometrics Ranking of World Universities 2024.

Claiming the third position overall, KMTC stands alongside Kenya Forestry Research Institute and Kenya School of Government in the first and second positions, respectively.

When raked alongside universities, KMTC has achieved an impressive 43rd position, beating famous institutions such as Africa Nazarene University, Multimedia University of Kenya, and KCA University, among others.

The University of Nairobi leads the list, followed by Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in the second position and Kenyatta University in the third place.

Upon receiving the results, KMTC Chief Executive Officer – Dr. Kelly Oluoch expressed his appreciation for the ranking, highlighting its reflection of the College’s dedication to excellence in medical education and training.

“Securing the third position overall underlines the commitment of our staff and students. This recognition solidifies KMTC’s standing as a leading institution in the country,” he said

“This milestone not only underscores our dedication to academic excellence but also highlights the global impact and influence of KMTC,” he added.

Dr. Oluoch reiterated the College’s commitment to shaping healthcare professionals’ future and advancing medical education in Kenya and beyond.

The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, also known as Ranking Web of Universities, evaluates universities globally based on a composite indicator considering web content volume and visibility.

Published by the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid, the ranking aims to enhance the online presence of academic and research institutions and promote open-access publication of scientific results.

Commencing in 2004, the ranking is regularly updated in January and July. As of 2021, it offers web indicators for over 31,000 universities worldwide.
