Latest Covid-19 news in Kenya: Shocker as 25 Tanzanian truck drivers test positive for Covid-19 at Namanga border

Kenya’s confirmed Covid-19 cases jumped to 737 on Wednesday as 22 more individuals tested positive for the disease. The Ministry of health reported that they had tested 1,516 samples on Wednesday, bringing the total of samples tested so far to 35, 432.

Out of the samples tested today, 22 people have tested positive for corona virus. Of this number 21 are Kenyans and one is a Ugandan National.

According to reports from the Ministry, the youngest positive case is 20 years old, & the oldest is 81 years. In terms of gender distribution 17 are Males and 5 are females.

10 of the new cases are from Nairobi county with Mombasa, Kajiado and Bomet recording 8, 3, and 1 cases respectively.

This brings the total number of those who have tested positive to 737.

Bomet becomes the latest County to record a Covid-19 case.

But, it is Tanzania that has come under the spotlight lately, all for the wrong reasons. On Wednesday alone, out of the 1,516 test samples, 25 individuals were truck drivers from Tanzania who also tested positive at the Namanga border and were referred back to Tanzania. The silence by the Tanzanian government on releasing covid-19 results for over two weeks now has raised eyebrows with reports insinuating that there may be multiple infections in the East African country. The american embassy in Arusha is raising a red flag on the covid-19 infection status in Tanzania.
