Sironga Girls High School Gets New Principal as Eve Odhiambo is transferred

Sironga Girls High school will now be headed by Chief Principal Jane Nyanumba who has been at Tombe Girls since 2015. Mrs Nyanumba replaces Chief Principal Eve Akeyo Odhiambo who has now moved to Kisumu Girls.

Tombe Girls High School will now be led by Chief Principal Madam Rachael Mokua who comes in from Chwele Girls High School.

About Tombe Girls

Aristariko Nyangena served at Tombe girls in 1967. Then came Daniel Nyarangi (1993), Eunice A. Nyambane (1998) Eunice A. Abade (2011) Jane Nyanumba (2015 to 2024).

Chief Principal Jane had seen Tombe girls rise in both academics and infrastructure. In the 2023 KCSE exams, the school recorded a mean score of 7.1 which is a C+ (plus). 167 candidates out of the registered 248 qualified for university.

Tombe Girls Principal, Jane Nyanumba says the improved infrastructure in the school has attracted more students.

The school had a mean of 9.2 in 2022 KCSE exams having registered 187 candidates.

“Students’ mindset, teamwork, and better facilities are all the key factors that have put us at the top. Mentorship programmes also contributed to our improved performance,” she said.

About Sironga Girls

Sironga Girls had 7 candidates with a mean grade of A-(minus) at the 2023 KCSE exams.

Scores of others attained Bs giving the school an 89 percent pass.

They reported a general mean score of 8.02 up from 7.6 in the last score.

School principal Eva Odhiambo thanked God alluding to good cooperation by staff as factors in the improved score.

At least 461 from the school attained entrance to university.

The Sironga community under the initiative of Pastor Johnson Ageki Mainda Omenge started a one streamed Girls Harambee Secondary School under the sponsorship of SDA church in 1972. Since there was no physical facilities available, the team of teachers of Sironga Primary School led by Mr. Peterson Meroka availed one classroom, hence 45 girls commenced learning as Form ones in February 1968. Temporal structures were put up as dormitories and all the students stayed in school.
