Summary of Kuppet ADC 2023 deliberations at Kasarani gymnasium

The 2023 KUPPET Annual Delegates Conference, ADC, was held at the Kasarani gymnasium in Nairobi on Saturday 16th December.

Here is a summary of the ADC resolutions:

RESOLUTIONS OF KUPPET KENYA 2023 ADC. (SUMMARY).

1. Confirmation of Intern JSS teachers to PnP. The Prime cabinet secretary acknowledged that there is need to confirm senior interns.
2.Interns JSS Teachers whose one year contract has not expired be given first priority during recruitment of SSS and JSS teachers on PnP by TSC.
3.TSC promote all deserving teachers by end of January to allow parliament allocate another 1 billion to TSC during the 2024 supplement budget for another round of promotions.
4. Group life cover for teachers to be re-instated when awarding the new insurance contract.
5. Proposal to Domicile grade 8 and 9 in secondary Schools.
6.SRC to stop interfering with structured negotiations towards signing of CBAs.
7. Payment of Risk allowance for teachers.
8. Confirmation of acting Deputy principals or to be paid acting allowance.
9. Union shall continue pushing for 30-70 percent salary increase.
10. Government to properly fund public Education system.( Stop commercialization of Education in Kenya.).
11. It was demonstrated that part of the Ksh 15,000 capitation meant to by lab equipments and chemicals for JSS is not utilized for the intended service.
12. Government to build classes and laboratories for JSS.
13. Creation of Sub-county Education Board where Unions will be represented.
14. All teachers on retirement to continue earning their monthly salary until their retirement benefits are processed and paid( parliament already working on these proposal).
15. Constitutional amendment process to started officially to today and to be concluded before 2025.
16. More service providers be accredited across the country to offer medical services for teachers.
17. 94 JSS teachers attended today’s ADC and Erick Monari of NYAMIRA had an opportunity to address the delegates and articulated Issues affecting JSS teachers very well.
18. KNEC to expedite payment for examiners, CM, supervisors and invigilators.
