TSC circular to teachers on reporting back to their schools

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has today released a circular to teachers on reporting back to their schools. The circular written by TSC Boss Nancy Macharia requires all teachers to be at their stations by Monday September 28, 2020 so that they can prepare for learners’ reporting.

Here are contents of the circular that is addressed to all Regional Directors, TSC County and Sub-County Directors;

FOR PREPARATION FOR RE-OPENING OF SCHOOLS RESUMPTION OF THE 2020 ACADEMIC CALENDAR

Following extensive consultations with all Stakeholders in the Education Sector, it has been decided that, in order to prepare for the eventual re-opening of schools, all Teachers employed by the Teachers Service Commission should report back to school by 28th September, 2020.

All the Teachers are directed to take part in making adequate arrangements for re-opening of schools, which shall include the following:

a) Work with relevant Stakeholders to ensure thorough cleaning of classrooms, offices, dormitories, all school amenities and ensure that the same are in habitable conditions for Learners.

b) Development of innovative strategies designed to offer psycho-social support to Learners, Parents and other Stakeholders.

c) Preparation of curriculum delivery materials including timetables, schemes of work, lesson plans and related activities for curriculum implementation and delivery;

d) Development of innovative strategies and mechanisms for curriculum implementation while upholding the Ministry of Health Guidelines and protocols for containment of the spread of COVID-19 including social distancing, regular handwashing, use of sanitizer and wearing of face masks.

e) Proper sharing of duties and responsibilities among all Teachers while making deliberate efforts to protect Staff with underlying conditions.

You are expected to disseminate the contents of this Circular to all Teachers working under your respective Regions, Counties and Sub Counties. You are further directed to coordinate, monitor and supervise this exercise and ensure that Teachers prepare adequately for resumption of learning.

The Commission assures all Teachers of continued support at all times.
