The aim of founding Agoro Sare High School was to provide structured secondary education to African students during a period when such opportunities were limited under colonial rule.

At its inception, the school started as a boys’ secondary school, admitting a small number of students drawn mainly from the surrounding Luo communities and other parts of Nyanza. It was one of the few institutions offering advanced education in the region, and it quickly became an important center for academic and leadership development.

During the late 1950s and early 1960s, the school operated under the British colonial education system, offering curricula that prepared students for examinations such as the Cambridge School Certificate.
