Karatina University is a public university located in Nyeri County, Kenya, approximately 15 kilometers north of Karatina town. The university is known as “The Green University” due to its peaceful setting surrounded by tea plantations on the slopes of Mount Kenya.

The college is divided into several schools offering certificate, diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD courses:

Agriculture and Biotechnology: Known for unique courses such as tea farming.
Business: Available at the Karatina city branch.
Education and Social Sciences: Provides teaching and social science training.
Natural Resources and Environmental Studies: It deals with the conservation of the environment and resources.
Nursing and Health Sciences: Provides training in nursing and health systems management.
Pure and Applied Sciences: Includes courses in Computer Science, IT, and Statistics.

Karatina University’s College Life and Service

Accommodation: There are hostels on campus which are provided on a first-come, first-served basis, and the fee is estimated to be around KSh 6,500 per semester.
Admissions: Intakes are held in January, May, and September.
Technology: New students are advised to have a laptop as part of their learning requirements.
Transportation: The college can be reached by road from Karatina town towards Kagochi area.

School of Natural Resources and Environmental Studies

The School of Natural Resources & Environmental Studies is dedicated and receptive to engagements for mutual benefit to the society and the graduates. Its mandate is to create an avenue for information interchange pertaining to Natural Resources Management for a better today and tomorrow. The School empowers graduates with appropriate knowledge and skills necessary in promoting entrepreneurship and community development in natural resources utilization and conservation of the environment.

This School appreciates that the world’s finite natural resources are experiencing unsustainable exploitation by the runaway human population and wanton destruction. Thus, it is critical to develop and inspire professionals with specialized skills in natural resources and environmental management to sustain the prudent use of these resources.

The School offers Postgraduate, Undergraduate, Diploma and Certificate programs.
