Announcement of the KCSE 2023 Results: Stakeholders in the Education sector have urged Education Ministry’s Cabinet Secretary to release KCSE 2023 results when ready.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) has urged Education Secretary General Ezekiel Machogu to provide the Kenya National Examinations Council, Knec, additional time to compile and award Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education applicants the grades they deserve.
Aggrey Namisi, National Vice Chairperson KNUT, told the press in Bungoma on Saturday that the KCPE results were hurried, resulting in inaccuracies.
Namisi’s comments came a day after social media speculation that KCSE results might be announced any time from now.
“Please CS Machogu, we are not in a hurry, give the markers time to analyze results well before you release,
we don’t want to experience what happened during the KCPE examination release,” Namisi stated in a statement.
“Let the examiners go through the questions, mark, prepare, and give credible results.”
The unionists criticized widespread exam cheating in the country and urged CS Machogu to put the education system back on track.
He claims that there was an error in the grading of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, citing situations in which students who did not do sign language were given sign language marks.
The KCSE exams concluded on October 27.
On November 23, the Ministry of Education revealed the 2023 KCPE examination results for 1,406,557 students.
There were mistakes, as some candidates were given marks for subjects they had not taken.
The Kenya National Examination Council admitted that 133 applicants were given incorrect grades.
Knec CEO David Njengere stated that they had received appeals from certain impacted schools expressing disagreement with their results via the SMS code 40054.
