The Kenya Medical Training College, KMTC, Chemolingot received a major boost on June 21, 2026, when the Head of Public Service, Mr. Felix Koskei, officially handed over a bus acquired through the Tiati National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF). The gesture reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities and strengthening healthcare training in underserved regions.
The new bus will support student transport for clinical placements, community health outreach, educational visits, inter-campus activities, and other co-curricular engagements, improving access to practical training.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Koskei commended the Campus for its impressive growth and efforts to increase access to training through the introduction of diverse academic programmes.
“Chemolingot campus is transforming lives by creating opportunities for young people to acquire skills and contribute to the country’s healthcare workforce. This is the kind of development that changes communities,” he said.
He lauded the Government led by H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto for supporting key projects at the Campus, including the construction of a student village that will accommodate 370 students upon completion and a borehole sunk by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), which has significantly improved access to water.
Mr. Koskei further pledged support towards securing a title deed for the Campus, improving access roads, and following up on student HELB financing.
Speaking during the event, KMTC Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Kelly Oluoch, expressed deep appreciation to H.E. President Ruto for his steadfast support to KMTC and deliberate focus on expanding access to quality medical training across the country.
He further thanked the Head of Public Service, Mr. Felix Koskei, for his commitment and follow-up on key projects that are transforming Chemolingot Campus and other KMTC campuses nationally.
Dr. Oluoch also thanked Tiati MP, Hon. William Kamket, and the NG-CDF for their continued investment in the College.
“We appreciate the support that has seen the construction of five classrooms, a skills laboratory, ICT facilities, hostels, and now the acquisition of this bus. The College has complemented these efforts by equipping the classrooms, skills laboratory, ICT facilities, and hostels to ensure students receive quality training,” said Dr. Oluoch.
He added that the College is in the process of recruiting additional academic and non-academic staff to support the Campus’ continued growth and thanked H.E. President Ruto for supporting the borehole project and the ongoing hostel development.
Chemolingot Campus Principal, Mr. Timothy Kiptoo, described the bus as a game changer for students and staff. “This support will greatly enhance student experience and strengthen KMTC Chemolingot’s links with surrounding communities as the Campus advances healthcare education in the region.,” he said.

History of KMTC Chemolingot Campus
KMTC Chemolingot Campus opened its doors to the first cohort of students in 2021 and was officially inaugurated by H.E President Ruto on August 2, 2024. The Campus currently offers programmes in Nursing, Health Promotion and Community Health, Community Health Assistant training and upgrading, and Health Records and Information Technology.
