The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, KICD, wishes to recruit qualified Professionals for various vacant positions as outlined below:
1). Senior Deputy Director – Corporate Services KICD, Grade 2; One (1) Post
The Senior Deputy Director – Corporate Services will report to the
Director/chief Executive Officer.
a) Duties and Responsibilities:
(i) Coordinating and directing all support services and activities relating to administration, human capital management, corporate communication, ICT and financial management;
(ii) Coordinating the preparation of board papers for finance, administration and human resource & governance Committees of the Council; Designing and implementing management systems and policies
(iv) Ensuring prudent management of financial, human and physical
(v) Coordinating and overseeing the preparation of quarterly and annual
(vi) Coordinating the formulation and the implementation of financial
(vii) Coordinating the Institute’s preparation and implementation of Curriculum.
viii) Coordinating the designing and implementation of performance for Corporate Services Directorate resources of the Institution, financial reports and statements of accounts; & human resource policies and strategies; the annual budgets; management systems within the Institute.
(ix) Coordinating the development and implementation of a communication strategy for KICD;
(x) Ensuring adequate internal controls and compliance with the applicable laws, policies and procedures on human resource management, administration and financial management and;
(xi) Overseeing quality management systems in the Corporate Directorate
b) Requirement for Appointment.
For appointment an applicant must have:
(i) Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines Human Resource Management; Economics; Social Sciences; Finance;
Public Administration or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
(ii) Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Business, Finance Public Administration or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
(iii) Be a registered member of a relevant professional body.
(iv) Demonstrated a high standard of professional competence.
(v) A clear understanding of the role of the Corporate Services in
(vi) A leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a
(vii) A management/Governance course lasting not less than four
(viii) At least 10 years’ experience of which five (5) years should be at a
(ix) Fulfill the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
2. Deputy Director, Internal Audit KICD, Grade 3; One (1) Post
The Deputy Director, Internal Audit will report to the Council.
Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Coordinating the development and implementation of internal audit plans, strategies, policies and procedures;
(ii)Undertaking risk based audits and developing risk management guidelines in accordance with international internal
audit standards; and budgetary systems and audit procedures programmes and schedules; International Auditing Standards; recommendations to the Senior Management and KICD Council;
(iii)Reviewing and assessing accounting, financial management
(iv)Coordinating implementation of risk based audit plans,
(v)Conducting Internal auditing in accordance with KICD policies and
(vi)Reporting and communicating audit findings.
(vii)Coordination of timely performance of specia audit investigations and forensic audits;
(viii) Provision of secretariat services to the Audit Committee.
a) Requirement for Appointment
For appointment an applicant must have:
(i) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Commerce
(Accounting option); Commerce (Finance option); Business Administration (Accounting option) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
(ii) Master’s degree n any of the following disciplines: Business Administration (Finance); Business Administration (Accounting); Master of Science in Finance or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
(iii) Part of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or Part III of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
(iv) A leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution
(v)A management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution in Kenya (ICPAK); management level (KICD Grade 5) or an equivalent position; Accounting profession as reflected in work performance and results.
(vi) Be Registered with the institute of Certified Public Accountants of
(vii) At least 10 years experience of which five (5) years should be at managerial level.
(viii) Demonstrated outstanding professional competence
(ix) Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
3. Assistant Director Planning and Quality Assurance, KICD Grade 4; ONE
(1) POST
The Assistant Director – Planning and Quality Assurance will report to the Deputy Director Corporate Planning.
a) Duties and Responsibilities:
(i) Coordinating policy development and review in the Institute;
(ii) Interpreting and providing advice on planning and policy issues;
(ii) ensuring that the strategic plan is implemented as per the schedule
(iv) Carrying out feasibility studies on all service delivery projects;
(v) Carrying out service delivery surveys in the Institute;
(vi) Coordinate development of work plans for various Directorates and aligning them to the budget accordance to budget calendar; mandate; generating annual performance and statistical reports;
(vii) Coordinating project prioritization process.
(viii] Researching and studying key issues related to the Institute’s
(ix) Aligning corporate strategy with the sectoral and national goals;
(x) Promoting a strong operational risk management and compliance
(xi) Steering quality management system certification and monitoring
(xii) Preparing and submitting reports to management.
(xi) Liaising with departmental heads for implementation of culture implementation to sustain compliance; performance of the quality management system preventive and corrective action.
(xiv) Carrying out risk assessments in relation to risk and quality assurance at work;
(xv) Implementing risk and quality management systems and framework and ensuring maintenance of the same in the Institute.
(xvi) Undertaking escarch on emerging trends on risk and quality assurance.
b) Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an applicant must have:
(i) A Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce
Economics, Business, Project Management, Mathematics, Statistics
Education or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
(ii) A Master Degree in any of the following disciplines; – Commerce, Economics, Business, Project Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Education or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
(ii) At least eight (8) years of relevant work experience three(3) years should be at a supervisory role (KICD Grade 5) or equivalent position.
(iv). A Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution
(v) Be Registered with a professional body;
(vi] Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence, managerial
and administrative capability in planning and quality assurance function as reflected in work performance and results
(vii). Fulfill the requirement of chapter six of the constitution.
