Established around 1952, the institution began as an intermediate primary school for boys under Catholic management. Over the decades, it has grown into one of Kenya’s leading secondary schools, renowned for academic excellence, discipline, and sporting success.

Establishment (Early 1950s):
The school originated as a Catholic-managed intermediate boys’ school, splitting from St. Brigid’s Primary School. It was relocated to its current site in Kitale around 1952.

Growth and National Status:

JOBO steadily developed into a top-tier national school, gaining recognition for its strict discipline, high academic standards, and strong co-curricular programs.

Sporting Legacy:

The school has built a strong reputation in sports, particularly football. It consistently competes at the national level and achieved a historic milestone by winning its first national football title at the Kenya Secondary Schools National Championship 2025. In the final held in Kakamega, JOBO defeated Musingu High School 1–0. The school also excels in handball, basketball and hockey.

Recent Academic Performance:

Under the leadership of Chief Principal Cosmas Nabungolo, the school has undergone a major transformation. It has risen to top positions in KCSE performance within Trans Nzoia County (2025) and achieved an impressive 100% transition rate to universities.
