WHO IS KHATUNDI PHANICE NALIAKA MUTIEMBU?

A Daughter of Trans Nzoia, Defined by Service, Proven by Results

Khatundi Phanice Naliaka Mutiembu is a dedicated public servant, accomplished scholar, and proud daughter of Trans Nzoia County. Born and raised in Mengo Village, Saboti Constituency, she embodies resilience, discipline, and selfless service, values that continue to inspire communities across the county and beyond.

Early Life and Family Roots

As the firstborn in her family, Khatundi grew up with a strong sense of responsibility and leadership. She was raised in a humble and disciplined household by her parents, Mzee Jotham Wanyonyi Mwibanda and Mama Julia Asami (Omwiranyi from Luanda, Bunyore). Her father trained as a driver in Matisi before securing permanent employment in 1978 at the Agricultural Engineering Department of Mumias Sugar Company, where he served diligently until 2014, opting for the Voluntary Early Retirement Scheme (VERS). Returning to Mengo, he embraced small-scale mixed farming, focusing on family life and dedicating himself fully to his household.

From her parents, Khatundi inherited values of hard work, integrity, humility, perseverance, and commitment to community, principles that continue to guide her personal and professional journey.

Early Life and Connection to Agriculture

After completing her O-Levels, Khatundi stayed in Mengo Village, immersing herself in village life before joining campus. During this period, she experienced firsthand the realities of agricultural work: taking cows to Muroki dip, milking, grazing, selling tomatoes at Chesito Market, and trekking long distances to mill maize. She preferred caring for the cows over fetching water, as her height made carrying jerrycans difficult.

These experiences cultivated in her a profound understanding of rural life, farming, and the hard work needed to sustain families, foundations that continue to shape her leadership and commitment to Trans Nzoia.

Academic Journey and Educational Excellence

Khatundi Phanice Naliaka Mutiembu’s academic journey reflects excellence, leadership, and dedication. She began at Chesito Kindergarten, progressed to Mumias Complex Primary School, and then to Booker Academy, where she excelled academically and served as Head Girl during her O-Level years. She then joined Moi University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education (Biology/Chemistry) and a Master’s in Parasitology. She further advanced her studies at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, attaining a Master’s in Environmental Science and a PhD in Disaster Management and Sustainable Development.

Leadership and Public Service

Khatundi currently serves as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture in Trans Nzoia County under Governor George Natembeya. In this role, she is recognized as a practical, focused, and results-driven leader committed to transforming the agricultural sector and improving farmers’ livelihoods. Under her leadership, the Trans Nzoia Department of Agriculture achieved the top national ranking, a testament to her vision, efficiency, and dedication.

Daughter of the Soil

Khatundi’s life and work remain deeply rooted in her homeland. She understands the aspirations of her people because she has lived their realities, labored in their fields, and shared their struggles. Her leadership is a blend of knowledge, hands-on experience, and heartfelt commitment to the development of Trans Nzoia County.

Khatundi Phanice Naliaka Mutiembu is not just a leader; she is a daughter of the soil, a role model, and a testament to what dedication, education, and service can achieve.

In 2027, with great humility and a sincere heart of service, I humbly ask for your support and your vote for the position of Trans Nzoia Woman Representative. The time has come for us to unite our people, stand firmly with women, youth, and families, and provide practical leadership that will transform the lives of our people. Let us walk this journey together and build a stronger, more inclusive, and more progressive Trans-Nzoia for all.
