TSC Staffing Norms & Guidelines in Primary, Junior and Senior Schools [Circular]

The Teachers Service Commission,TSC, has released new Staffing Norms & Guidelines in Primary, Junior and Senior Schools under the Competency Based Education, CBE. The circular gives guidelines on the number of teachers, Senior Teachers, Masters, Deputy Heads and Heads Required per school. This is based on the school’s enrollment (students’ population).

Staffing Levels Considered

The following are the levels considered under this policy on TSC Staffing requirements:

1. Lower Primary (Grades 1-3)
2. Upper Primary (Grades 4-6)
3. Primary School (Grades 1-6)
4. Junior School (Grade 7-9)
5. Senior School (Grades 10-12)
6. Special Needs Education (Age and Stage-based)
7. Teachers Training Colleges (Primary and Secondary)
8. Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE)
9. Kenya Institute for the Blind (KIB)
