TSC teachers’ Stagnation in same job groups; Kuppet calls on members to participate in Survey

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers, Kuppet, has moved to address the teething problem on teacher Stagnation in same job groups.

The teachers’ union has released a presser calling all teachers to fill an online survey form. Data collected from the survey will be used to force the Teachers Service Commission, TSC, to immediately promote teachers.

“As per the advertisement on vacancies for promotions in December 2022, the Teachers Service Commission has finally acknowledged the crisis of stagnation among teachers. However, the advertisements were for limited positions, mainly those of responsibility, meaning that thousands of teachers would still be left out in the promotions.” Says Kuppet Secretary General Akello Misori.

Kuppet says the pulled TSC promotions advert did not cater for promotion needs of all teachers

“This is happening against the Commission’s own Regulations, which provide the manner in which teachers are to be promoted. The union hereby calls for data on all teachers who have not received their deserved promotions, in order to hold the Commission accountable for the failure to follow its own Regulations in promoting teachers.” adds Misori

Most teachers have stagnated in same grades for over a decade.
